Brainspotting Therapy: The Fast, Gentle Way to Heal What’s Been Holding You Back
Inspired by my interview on the ASCC Buckets podcast with Bettina Sastoque
You’ve done the journaling. You’ve read the books. Maybe you’ve even been in therapy before. But that knot in your chest? The inner critic that keeps you second-guessing yourself? Still there.
That’s where Brainspotting Therapy comes in.
I shared more about this on the ASCC Buckets podcast—Brainspotting: The Therapy You’ve Never Heard Of That Could Change Your Life?. And the title says it all. Brainspotting is still under the radar, but it’s one of the most effective tools I’ve ever seen for clearing emotional blocks—fast.
What Is Brainspotting Therapy?
Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based therapy that helps your nervous system finally complete the emotional processing it didn’t get to finish at the time of the original experience.
Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, it builds on EMDR—but instead of bouncing your eyes back and forth, Brainspotting helps you find one exact eye position where the pain lives in your brain. We stay there—and that’s when the healing happens.
I describe it like this: unprocessed trauma is stored as little emotional time capsules. Your brain packs them away when life is too overwhelming. But they leak—into your business, your relationships, your confidence. Brainspotting gives your system permission to finally open those capsules… and let them go.
Why Brainspotting Works (When Mindset Work Doesn’t)
Most trauma isn’t stored in your thoughts—it’s stored in your body. That’s why affirmations and mindset work can feel like you're pushing a boulder uphill. They speak to your rational brain while your protective brain is still pumping the brakes.
With Brainspotting Therapy, we tap into the place in your brain that felt the experience—and let your body complete the reaction it never got to finish. That’s how the block finally lifts.
I like to say we’re not “reprogramming” your brain—we’re filling potholes. Little emotional ruptures that make your internal world feel shaky. You’re not broken. You just need better roadwork.
What a Session Looks Like
Every session is different. Some are quiet, reflective. Others bring big breakthroughs.
Here’s how it works:
You tell me what’s showing up—maybe fear of visibility, imposter syndrome, burnout. Then I help you locate where that feeling lives in your body. From there, we find the eye position where the sensation feels strongest.
That’s your brainspot.
And my job? I become your nervous system’s co-pilot—offering external regulation. Just like a toddler who falls and looks to their caregiver to decide if it’s safe to cry or laugh, your body looks for cues. I’m there to signal, “It’s okay now. You’re safe. You can let this go.”
Real Clients. Real Shifts.
One therapist I worked with was stuck in freeze—she desperately wanted to ask doctors for referrals but couldn’t get the words out. We did a Brainspotting session, and not only did she tell one doctor that afternoon, she called two more and started reaching out to 25 contacts from a past career.
Another client had chronic anxiety around the medical system—panic attacks for 17 years. After one session, she hasn’t had a single panic attack in over two years, despite major health scares and family illness.
I’ve even used Brainspotting on myself—during dental work. (I used to have such severe dental phobia they couldn’t touch me without putting me under.) One self-led session in the chair changed that.
This work changes lives—quickly, quietly, and permanently.
Why Brainspotting Therapy Is a Game-Changer
You don’t need more motivation. You need nervous system safety.
And Brainspotting delivers that, without forcing you to relive every painful detail.
Here’s what makes it different:
✅ You don’t have to talk through your trauma
✅ It works even if you don’t remember what happened
✅ It’s customized every time—because your brain leads, not a script
✅ One session often clears what mindset work couldn’t touch
Whether you’re navigating trauma, burnout, money blocks, or perfectionism, this process helps you get out of your own way—without faking confidence or pushing through.
